Mark Scheme Trained

We don't just teach content — we train students on exactly what AP examiners reward. Students learn to write answers that match the mark scheme, not just answers that are technically correct.

🔍

Diagnostic-First Approach

Every student starts with a diagnostic so we know exactly which AP Calculus topics to target. No time is wasted on things your child already knows.

FAQ

AP Calculus tutoring — common questions

What is the difference between AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC?

AP Calculus AB covers approximately the content of a first-semester university calculus course — limits, derivatives, and basic integration. AP Calculus BC covers all AB content plus additional topics: integration techniques, parametric and polar calculus, and infinite series. BC students who score 3+ receive an AB sub-score. Our tutors cover both courses.

Is AP Calculus harder than A-Level Maths or IB Maths AA?

AP Calculus BC is comparable in depth to A-Level Pure Maths or IB Maths AA SL, though the series and sequences content in BC goes further than most IB SL courses. IB Maths AA HL is generally considered broader and more demanding than AP Calculus BC. For students in American curriculum schools in Dubai, AP Calculus is the standard pre-university maths pathway.

How is the AP Calculus exam structured?

The AP Calculus exam is 3 hours 15 minutes with two sections: Multiple Choice (45 questions, 50% of score) and Free Response (6 questions, 50% of score). Each section has a calculator and non-calculator part. Our tutors train both MCQ technique (pacing, trap avoidance) and FRQ structure (showing work, partial credit strategy).

My child's school offers both AP Calculus AB and BC — which should they take?

Students with strong algebra foundations and an interest in STEM should take BC — the additional content is manageable and universities reward the BC course. Students less confident in maths or taking AP Calculus as a requirement rather than a passion should take AB. Our tutors assess your child's level and advise on the right course at the first session.

How many sessions of tutoring are needed to prepare for AP Calculus?

Most students preparing for AP Calculus with a solid precalculus foundation need 10–20 sessions to reach 4–5 score territory. Students with weaker algebra foundations need more. We begin with a diagnostic, target the weakest areas, then move into timed FRQ and MCQ practice in the final 4–6 weeks before the AP exam.
