What is the difference between IB Physics SL and HL?
IB Physics HL covers all SL content plus additional HL-only material including deeper field theory, electromagnetic induction, and further thermodynamics. HL students sit an additional paper and the questions are more mathematically demanding. HL is required or preferred for engineering, physics, and some medicine programmes at top universities.
How difficult is the IB Physics Internal Assessment?
The IB Physics IA is a 6–12 page experimental investigation worth 20% of the final grade. The most common pitfall is a poorly defined research question — too broad, not measurable, or not physics-based. Is IB Physics HL harder than A-Level Physics?
